Cefaclor Dry Suspension

This product is a broad-spectrum semi-synthetic cephalosporin antibiotic. Its activity against penicillinase-producing Staphylococcus aureus, group A hemolytic streptococci, viridans streptococci and Staphylococcus epidermidis is the same as that of cefadroxil, and its antibacterial effect against non-enzyme-producing Staphylococcus aureus and pneumococci is 2 to 4 times stronger than that of cefadroxil. Its activity against Gram-negative bacilli, including Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae, is stronger than that of cefadroxil, and is similar to that of cefadroxil. Its activity against Proteus mirabilis, Salmonella and Shigella is stronger than that of cefadroxil. 2.9 to 8 mg/L of this product can inhibit all Haemophilus influenzae, including strains resistant to ampicillin. Moraxella catarrhalis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae are very sensitive to this product. Indole-positive Proteus, Serratia, Acinetobacter and Pseudomonas aeruginosa are all resistant to this product. The mechanism of action of this product is to inhibit the synthesis of bacterial cell walls.

The main ingredient of this product is cefaclor, and its chemical name is (6R,7R)-7-[(R)-2-amino-2-phenylacetylamino]-3-chloro-8-oxo-5-thia-1-azabicyclo[4.2.0]oct-2-ene-2-carboxylic acid monohydrate.

This product is in the form of fine particles or powder; it has a fragrant aroma and sweet taste.

It is suitable for the treatment of infections caused by the following sensitive strains: Otitis media: caused by Pneumococcus, Haemophilus influenzae, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus pyogenes (Group A p-hemolytic Streptococcus) and Moraxella catarrhalis. Lower respiratory tract infections (including pneumonia): caused by Pneumococcus, Haemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pyogenes (Group A B-hemolytic Streptococcus) and Moraxella catarrhalis. Upper respiratory tract infections (including pharyngitis and tonsillitis): caused by Streptococcus pyogenes (Group A B-hemolytic Streptococcus) and Moraxella catarrhalis.

Adults: The usual dose for adults is 0.25g once every 8 hours. The dose for bronchitis and pneumonia is 0.25g once, three times a day. The recommended dose for sinusitis is 0.25g once, three times a day, for 10 days. For more serious infections (such as pneumonia) or infections caused by less sensitive bacteria, the dose can be doubled. A dose of 4g per day has been used safely in normal people for 28 days, but the total daily amount should not exceed this amount. For the treatment of acute gonococcal urethritis in men and women, a dose of 3g can be given once, combined with probenecid 1g.

Adverse reactions associated with cefaclor treatment include: 1. Allergic reactions: According to reports, they account for about 1.5% of patients, including urticarial rash (1/100). The incidence of itching, urticaria and positive Coombs test is less than 1/200. 2. It has been reported that serum sickness-like reactions may occur with the use of cefaclor. This reaction is characterized by the appearance of erythema multiforme, rash and other skin manifestations accompanied by arthritis/arthralgia, with or without fever. It differs from typical serum sickness in that it is rarely associated with lymphadenopathy and proteinuria, there are no immune complexes entering the circulation, and there are no signs of sequelae of the reaction. In-depth research is underway. Serum sickness-like reactions seem to be due to allergies and often occur during or when entering the second course of cefaclor.

Patients who are allergic to this product or other cephalosporins are contraindicated.

Precautions for children: The safety of the drug for newborns has not yet been determined. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: 1. Pregnant women should use with caution. 2. This product can be excreted through breast milk, so lactating women should use it with caution or stop breastfeeding. Precautions for the elderly: Elderly patients should adjust the dosage or medication interval according to their renal function under the guidance of a physician.

Drug/experimental interactions; in tests using Benedict's and Fehling's solutions and CLINIEST tablets rather than TES-TAPE (glucose enzyme test strips, Eli Lilly and Company, USA), glucose in the urine of patients taking cefaclor may show false positive reactions. / Rare reports of increased anticoagulant effect when cefaclor is taken with oral coagulants. As with other beta-lactam antibiotics, renal excretion of cefaclor is inhibited by probenecid.
