Special Population Medication

Precautions for children: Not yet clear. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Animal reproduction studies have shown that amoxicillin at 10 times the human dose did not damage the fertility and fetus of rats and mice. However, there is a lack of adequate controlled studies in humans. Given that animal reproduction studies cannot fully predict human reactions, pregnant women should only use this product when it is necessary. Since a small amount of amoxicillin can be secreted in breast milk, nursing mothers may cause allergies in their babies after taking it. Precautions for the elderly: Not yet clear.

Drug Interactions

1. Probenecid competitively reduces the renal tubular secretion of this product. The simultaneous use of the two can cause an increase in the blood concentration of amoxicillin and a prolonged half-life. 2. Chloramphenicol, macrolides, sulfonamides and tetracyclines interfere with the antibacterial effect of amoxicillin in vitro, but the clinical significance is unclear.
