Mycophenolate mofetil dry suspension

Function and Efficacy

Not yet clear.

Ingredients

Mycophenolate mofetil dry.

Appearance

This product is a suspension.

Indication

For the prevention of organ rejection in patients receiving allogeneic kidney or liver transplants, mycophenolate mofetil should be used concomitantly with cyclosporine A or tacrolimus and corticosteroids.

Usage and Dosage

1. Dosage for preventing renal transplant rejection. The first dose of this product should be taken orally within 72 hours after transplantation. For renal transplant patients, the recommended dose is 1 gram each time, twice a day (daily dose is 2 grams). Although 1.5 grams each time, twice a day (daily dose of 3 grams) has been used in clinical trials and is safe and effective, it does not have an advantage in effectiveness. Patients who receive 2 grams of this product per day have better overall safety than those who receive 3 grams. This product should be used simultaneously with standard doses of cyclosporine and corticosteroids. 2. Dosage for treating refractory renal transplant rejection. In clinical practice, the treatment and maintenance dose for refractory rejection is 1.5 grams each time, twice a day (daily dose is 3 grams). Therefore, a dose of 3 grams per day is recommended for clinical use. This product should be used simultaneously with standard doses of cyclosporine and corticosteroids.

Adverse Reactions

Not yet clear.

Precautions

Allergic reactions to this product have been observed. Therefore, this product is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity reactions to mycophenolate mofetil and mycophenolic acid. Patients receiving immunosuppressive therapy, including combination therapy, are warned that receiving this product as part of immunosuppressive therapy is at increased risk of developing lymphoma and other malignancies, especially of the skin. (See ADVERSE REACTIONS). The risk is related to the intensity and duration of immunosuppression and not to the specific immunosuppressant. Because all patients are at increased risk of skin cancer, exposure to sunlight and ultraviolet light should be limited by wearing protective clothing or high-protection factor sunscreens. Excessive suppression of the immune system can increase susceptibility to infections, including opportunistic infections, lethal infections, and sepsis.
