Dantrolene sodium is a muscle relaxant that acts directly on skeletal muscle. Its main site of action is the sarcoplasmic reticulum of skeletal muscle, which weakens muscle contraction by inhibiting the release of calcium ions from the sarcoplasmic reticulum.

It is used for the spastic state of increased muscle tone left over from upper motor neuron damage caused by various reasons, such as stroke, brain trauma, spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, multiple vascular sclerosis, etc.

Oral administration: It should be used under the guidance of a physician. Generally, the initial dose is 25 mg, once a day, and then gradually increased every week to a maximum of 50 mg, 3 times a day.

Muscle weakness, drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue, diarrhea, and rare cases of tachycardia, unstable blood pressure, pleural effusion, pericarditis, hematuria, urination disorder, etc. may occur. If necessary, the drug should be discontinued. Long-term use may cause liver and kidney damage.
