Function and Efficacy

Clotrimazole is a broad-spectrum azole antifungal drug. It has significant inhibitory effects on Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton gypseum, Cryptococcus neoformans, Aspergillus, Algae, Candida albicans, etc. The mechanism of action of clotrimazole is mainly to highly selectively interfere with the activity of fungal cytochrome P-450, thereby inhibiting the biosynthesis of ergosterol on the fungal cell membrane. Urea can dissolve keratin and increase protein hydration. It has antipruritic and antibacterial effects and can increase the penetration of drugs through the skin.

Appearance

This product is a white ointment with an emulsion base.

Indication

Used for tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea manuum, tinea pedis, tinea versicolor, tinea capitis, as well as candidal paronychia and candidal vulvovaginitis.

Usage and Dosage

For skin infection, apply to the affected area 2 to 3 times a day. For vaginitis, apply vaginally, 0.15g at a time, once every night for 7 consecutive days.

Adverse Reactions

Rashes, blisters, burning sensations, itching, redness or other skin irritation symptoms may occasionally occur after external use on the skin.

Precautions

It is contraindicated for those who are allergic to any component of this product.

Special Population Medication

Precautions for children: No special effects have been found for external use of this product in children. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: 1. No adverse effects on the fetus were found when clotrimazole was given vaginally in the last 3 months of pregnancy. However, in studies on mice and rats, oral administration of clotrimazole at 50-120 mg/kg body weight showed embryotoxicity, but no teratogenic effect was found. Therefore, pregnant women should use it with caution. 2. When this product is used externally by lactating women, clotrimazole can be secreted into breast milk, so lactating women should stop breastfeeding when using this product. Precautions for the elderly: No special effects have been found for external use of this product in elderly patients.

Drug Interactions

This product has no synergistic effect against Candida albicans when used in combination with nystatin, amphotericin B and flucytosine.
