Cloxacillin Sodium Capsules
Function and Efficacy
This product is a semi-synthetic penicillin that is acid-resistant and penicillinase-resistant. It has antibacterial activity against Gram-positive cocci and Neisseria. Its antibacterial activity against enzyme-producing strains of Staphylococcus (including Staphylococcus aureus and coagulase-negative Staphylococci) is stronger than that of oxacillin, but its antibacterial effect against penicillin-sensitive Staphylococci and various streptococci is weaker than that of penicillin, and it is ineffective against methicillin-resistant Staphylococci.
Ingredients
The main ingredient of this product is cloxacillin sodium, and its chemical name is: (2S,5R,6R)-3,3-dimethyl-6-[5-methyl-3-(2-chlorophenyl)-4-isoxazolecarboxamido]-7-oxo-4-thia-1-azabicyclo[3.2.0]heptane-2-carboxylic acid sodium salt

Indication
This product is mainly used to treat mild and moderate infections caused by penicillinase-producing and methicillin-sensitive Staphylococci, such as bone, respiratory tract, skin and soft tissue infections.
Usage and Dosage
Oral administration: 0.5 g for adults, 4 times a day. Children: 25-50 mg/kg per day, divided into 4 doses.
Adverse Reactions
1 Allergic reactions: Urticaria and other types of rashes are common. Leukopenia, interstitial nephritis, asthma attacks and serum sickness reactions (type III allergic reactions) may occur in a small number of patients. Some patients may suffer from anaphylactic shock. Once anaphylactic shock occurs, it is necessary to rescue on the spot, keep the airway open, inhale oxygen, and give treatment measures such as epinephrine and glucocorticoids. 2 A small number of patients may experience abdominal distension, loss of appetite, and even nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea and other symptoms. 3 Some patients may experience leukopenia and neutropenia or cholestatic jaundice. 4 Superinfection caused by Candida or Gram-negative bacilli is occasionally seen.
Precautions
It is contraindicated in patients with a history of allergy to penicillins or a positive penicillin skin test.
Special Population Medication
Precautions for children: This product can compete with bilirubin for binding to serum proteins, so it should be used with caution in newborns with jaundice. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: There is a lack of sufficient research on the effects of this product on pregnant women, but since this product can pass through the placenta into the fetus, pregnant women should fully weigh the pros and cons when taking this product. This product is secreted in small amounts in breast milk, so lactating women should use it with caution or stop breastfeeding when taking this product. Precautions for the elderly: The dosage must be adjusted when elderly patients take this product.
Drug Interactions
1. Chloramphenicol, erythromycin, tetracyclines, sulfonamides and other antibacterial drugs can interfere with the bactericidal activity of penicillin, so they should not be used in combination with this product and other penicillins, especially in the treatment of meningitis or severe infections that urgently require bactericides. 2. Probenecid, aspirin, indomethacin, phenylbutazone, and sulfonamides can reduce the excretion of this product in the renal tubules, increase the blood concentration of this product, prolong the serum half-life, and may also increase toxicity.
