Salmeterol Xinafoate Aerosol

Salmeterol xinafoate aerosol is a new long-acting β2-receptor agonist. It is the first major breakthrough in asthma treatment in the past two decades and the first bronchodilator with anti-inflammatory activity. Salmeterol xinafoate aerosol has an excellent therapeutic effect on patients with nocturnal asthma due to its long duration of action.

The main ingredient is salmeterol xinafoate.

This product is a white or off-white powder sealed in an aluminum foil strip. The aluminum foil strip is wrapped in a molded plastic device called a dosing device. The patient inhales the drug through the dosing device mouthpiece.

For the treatment of fungal infections of the mouth, pharynx, trachea or bronchus.

Remove the cap, turn the bottle upside down, put the cover into your mouth, aim at your throat and immediately press the spray head while inhaling hard. The medicine will be sprayed out in mist form. Then hold your breath for a moment so that the medicine mist particles can be inhaled and attached to the bronchi and lungs to take effect.

There have been reports of nasal septum perforation after intranasal administration of corticosteroids, but this is extremely rare and usually occurs in patients who have undergone nasal surgery. Like other nasal inhalers, this product can cause dryness and irritation of the nose and throat, and unpleasant taste and odor. Epistaxis, headache, allergic reactions, including rash, facial or tongue edema have been reported, and rare reports of allergic/anaphylactoid reactions and bronchospasm have been reported. Long-term, high-dose intranasal administration of corticosteroids may cause systemic reactions.

It is contraindicated for those who have a history of allergy to any ingredient in this product.

In patients with reversible obstructive airway disease, the use of selective and nonselective beta-blockers should be avoided unless absolutely necessary. Because plasma concentrations achieved with inhaled doses are very low, clinically significant drug interactions are unlikely. When known strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., diconazole and ritonavir) are used concomitantly, caution should be exercised regarding the potential for increased systemic exposure due to the use of fluticasone propionate.
