Doxapram Hydrochloride for Injection
Function and Efficacy
This product is a respiratory stimulant. In small doses, it reflexively excites the respiratory center through the carotid body chemoreceptors. In large doses, it directly excites the medullary respiratory center, increasing the tidal volume and increasing the respiratory rate to a limited extent. Large doses excite the spinal cord and brainstem, but seem to have no effect on the cerebral cortex. When patients with obstructive pulmonary disease have acute ventilation insufficiency, the use of this drug can improve tidal volume, blood carbon dioxide partial pressure, and oxygen saturation.
Ingredients
The main ingredient of this product is doxapram hydrochloride, and its chemical name is: 1-ethyl-3,3-diphenyl-4-(2-morpholinoethyl)-2-pyrrolidone hydrochloride monohydrate.
