Olsalazine Sodium Capsules
Function and Efficacy
This product replaces the inactive sulfapyridine in sulfasalazine (SASP) with the active ingredient 5-aminosalicylic acid, that is, two molecules of 5-aminosalicylic acid are connected by an azo bond, which improves the efficacy and reduces the incidence of adverse reactions. 5-aminosalicylic acid is an effective ingredient for the treatment of ulcerative colitis, but after oral administration of 5-aminosalicylic acid, it is absorbed in the small intestine and excreted in the urine after acetylation, and cannot reach the colon. This product is not absorbed or decomposed in the stomach and small intestine. After reaching the colon, its azo bond is broken by bacteria, decomposed into two molecules of 5-aminosalicylic acid and act on the inflamed mucosa of the colon, inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins, inhibiting the formation of inflammatory mediators leukotrienes, reducing the permeability of the intestinal wall cell membrane, reducing intestinal mucosal edema, and exerting an anti-inflammatory effect.

Indication

Usage and Dosage
Oral administration: 0.5~1g each time, twice a day; maintenance treatment: 0.5g each time, twice a day.
Adverse Reactions
Diarrhea is common, and there may be rash, headache, leukopenia, short-term anxiety, etc.
Precautions
This product is contraindicated for patients who are allergic to salicylic acid or have severe liver and kidney damage.
Special Population Medication
Precautions for children: The recommended dosage for children is 20-40 mg/kg per day. The maintenance dosage is 15-30 mg/kg per day, or follow the doctor's advice.
