Tamoxifen Citrate Tablets
Function and Efficacy
Tamoxifen is a non-steroidal anti-estrogen drug. Its structure is similar to that of estrogen, and there are two isomers, Z and E. The two have different physical and chemical properties and physiological activities. The E type has weak estrogen activity, while the Z type has anti-estrogen effects. If there are estrogen receptors (ER) in breast cancer cells, estrogen enters the tumor cells and binds to them, promoting the synthesis of DNA and m-RNA in the tumor cells and stimulating the growth of tumor cells. The Z-isomer of tamoxifen enters the cells, competes with ER for binding, forms a receptor complex, and prevents the effect of estrogen, thereby inhibiting the proliferation of breast cancer cells.
