Spiramycin Capsules

Spiramycin is a macrolide antibiotic, and its active ingredient is a mixture produced by Streptomyces. The antibacterial activity of spiramycin capsules is similar to that of erythromycin. In vitro tests have shown that spiramycin capsules have good antibacterial effects on Gram-positive bacteria and some Gram-negative bacteria. Such as Staphylococcus aureus, pneumococcus, hemolytic streptococci, Neisseria diphtheriae, etc. In addition, spiramycin capsules also have certain effects on Toxoplasma, Ureaplasma urealyticum, and Cryptosporidium. The mechanism of action of spiramycin capsules is to inhibit the protein synthesis of microorganisms. Compared with erythromycin, spiramycin capsules have a longer post-antibiotic effect (PAE).

Applicable to the following infections caused by sensitive bacteria: 1. Respiratory tract infections: pharyngitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, rhinitis, sinusitis, tonsillitis, cellulitis, otitis, buccal and oral infections, etc. 2. Urinary tract infections: chlamydia infections, prostate infections, etc. 3. Orthopedics: osteomyelitis, etc. 4. Parasitic infections: toxoplasmosis, cryptosporidiosis. 5. Others: skin and soft tissue infections.

Usage: Oral. Food affects the absorption of this product, so take it on an empty stomach. Dosage: 1. Adults: The usual dose is 4.5 million units (12 tablets) per day, orally in 2 to 3 times; the dose for patients with severe infection can be increased to 6 million units (16 tablets) per day as prescribed by the doctor. 2. Children: Children over 20 kg, 75,000 units per kilogram of body weight, twice a day, or 50,000 units per kilogram of body weight, three times a day, or as prescribed by the doctor.

Adverse reactions are mild, with occasional mild gastrointestinal discomfort, such as nausea and diarrhea, which does not affect treatment. There are reports of leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, and QT interval prolongation.
