Metronidazole lozenges

Metronidazole has a strong antibacterial effect on most anaerobic bacteria, but has no effect on aerobic bacteria and facultative anaerobes. The antibacterial spectrum includes Bacteroides fragilis and other Bacteroides, Fusobacterium, Clostridium perfringens, Eubacterium, Veillonella, Peptococcus and Peptostreptococcus. Its bactericidal concentration is slightly higher than the inhibitory concentration. The bactericidal mechanism of metronidazole has not been fully elucidated. The nitroreductase of anaerobic bacteria plays an important role in the energy metabolism of sensitive strains. The nitro group of this product is reduced to a cytotoxin, thereby acting on the DNA metabolism process of bacteria and promoting cell death.

Metronidazole

This product is white tablets.

Used for gingivitis, periodontitis, and pericoronitis.

Take orally, 3 to 4 tablets at a time, 3 to 4 times a day.

Occasionally, numbness of lips, itching of lips, nausea and stomach discomfort may occur. Long-term use may cause taste changes, which may disappear after stopping the drug.

1. Those who are allergic to this product are prohibited from using it. 2. Women within 3 months of pregnancy and breastfeeding are prohibited from using it. 3. Patients with active central nervous system diseases are prohibited from using it.

Precautions for children: Not clear yet. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: This product can pass through the placenta and quickly enter the fetal circulation. Animal experiments have found that intraperitoneal administration is toxic to the fetus, while oral administration is non-toxic. There are no sufficient and strict controlled observations on the effects of this product on the fetus, so pregnant women should only use this product when there are clear indications, but it should not be used in the first 3 months of pregnancy. The concentration of this product in breast milk is similar to that in blood. Animal experiments have shown that this product has a carcinogenic effect on young mice, so it is not recommended for use in lactating women. If the drug must be used, breastfeeding should be interrupted, and breastfeeding can be resumed 24-48 hours after the end of the treatment course. Precautions for the elderly: Not clear yet.

After large-scale use of this product, it is absorbed through the mucosa and may also produce drug interactions similar to those of systemic medications, such as inhibiting the metabolism of warfarin and other oral anticoagulants, interfering with disulfiram metabolism and serum aminotransferase and lactate dehydrogenase assay results, and combining with liver microsomal enzyme inducers or inhibitors to accelerate or slow down the metabolism of this product in the liver.
