Indication
1. This product is suitable for intravenous infusion for endocarditis, osteomyelitis, pneumonia, sepsis or soft tissue infection caused by Staphylococcus (including methicillin-resistant strains that are sensitive to this product). 2. Penicillin or cephalosporin cannot be used for patients who are allergic to penicillin, or patients with severe staphylococcal infection who are ineffective after the above antibiotics, vancomycin can be used. 3. This product is also used for the treatment of enterococcal endocarditis and Corynebacterium (diphtheroid) endocarditis in patients who are allergic to penicillin. 4. Treatment of arteriovenous shunt infection caused by Staphylococcus in hemodialysis patients who are allergic to penicillin or not allergic to penicillin.
Usage and Dosage
Before use, add an appropriate amount of injection water to dissolve. Slow intravenous drip: Adults 0.8g-1.6g (800,000-1.6 million units) per day, divided into 2-3 intravenous drips. Children 16mg-24mg/kg (16,000-24,000 units/kg) per day, divided into 2 intravenous drips.
Adverse Reactions
A small number of patients may experience rash, nausea, phlebitis, etc. This product may also cause tinnitus, hearing loss, and renal damage. Some patients may also experience transient decreases in peripheral blood leukocytes and increases in serum aminotransferases.
Precautions
Allergic to vancomycin antibiotics.
Special Population Medication
Precautions for children: Newborns and infants must also use this drug with caution. Blood drug concentrations should be monitored if conditions permit and the dosage should be adjusted accordingly. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: 1. Intravenous administration can cross the placenta and cause damage to the eighth cranial nerve of the fetus. Therefore, pregnant women should use this drug with caution after fully weighing the pros and cons in life-threatening situations or when other drugs are ineffective or cannot be used for serious diseases. 2. After intravenous administration, it is widely distributed in most body fluids and can be excreted in breast milk. When lactating women must use this drug for treatment, they should fully weigh the pros and cons to decide whether to use the drug. Precautions for the elderly: This product is highly likely to cause ototoxicity and nephrotoxicity (hearing loss) when used in elderly patients. Since the renal function of elderly patients declines with age, the dosage must be adjusted when used.
Drug Interactions
1. The combination or sequential application of aminoglycosides, amphotericin B injection, aspirin, other salicylates, bacitracin (injection), bumetanide injection, capreomycin, carmustine, cisplatin, cyclosporine, ethacrynic acid injection, furosemide injection, streptozotocin, paromomycin and polymyxins with norvancomycin may increase the potential for ototoxicity and/or nephrotoxicity; hearing loss may occur, and may continue to progress to deafness even after drug discontinuation. The reaction may be reversible, but often becomes permanent. Hearing must be monitored when this product is used in combination or sequentially with other deafness-causing antibacterial drugs. Since norvancomycin is often used in combination with aminoglycosides for the treatment of bacterial endocarditis and streptococcal and coryneform endocarditis, it can also be used to treat drug-resistant staphylococcal infections, or if the above patients are allergic to penicillin, renal function tests and blood drug concentration monitoring are required to adjust the dosage or dosing interval or change the drug. 2. When antihistamines, buclizine, cyclizine, phenothiazines, thioxanthenes, trimethobenzylamine, etc. are used in combination with this product, they may mask ototoxic symptoms such as tinnitus, dizziness, and vertigo. 3. It is incompatible with alkaline solutions and may precipitate when it encounters heavy metals.
