Lactulose oral solution
Function and Efficacy
Lactulose is not absorbed in the small intestine and is broken down into acidic metabolites in the colon, only a small part of which is absorbed. This leads to increased osmotic pressure in the intestinal cavity, retention of water and electrolytes, increased intestinal volume, mechanical stimulation to the intestinal wall, and chemical stimulation from the acidic metabolites, resulting in laxative effects.
Ingredients
The main component of this product is lactulose, and its chemical name is 4Obeta;D-galactopyranosyl-D-fructofuranosyl. Molecular formula: C12H22O11, molecular weight: 342.3.
