This product is a biosynthesized pseudotetrasaccharide. Animal test results show that this product has an inhibitory effect on the activity of α-glucosidase in the brush border of small intestinal wall cells, thereby delaying the degradation of polysaccharides, oligosaccharides or disaccharides in the intestine, slowing down the degradation and absorption of glucose from carbohydrates into the blood, reducing the increase in blood sugar after meals, and lowering the average blood sugar value.

Ingredients

Appearance

This product is off-white or light yellow tablets.

Indication

Treat diabetes with diet control.

Usage and Dosage

Swallow the whole tablet immediately before eating or chew it with the first few bites of food. The dosage varies from person to person. The generally recommended dosage is: the starting dose is 50 mg each time, 3 times a day. Then gradually increase to 0.1 g each time, 3 times a day. In some cases, it can be increased to 0.2 g each time, 3 times a day. Or follow the doctor's advice.

Adverse Reactions

There is often flatulence and bowel sounds, occasional diarrhea, and rarely abdominal pain. If the diet is not controlled, gastrointestinal side effects may be aggravated. If severe discomfort still occurs after controlling the diet, consult a doctor to reduce the dose temporarily or permanently. In some cases, skin allergic reactions such as erythema, rash, and urticaria may occur.

Precautions

1. Patients who are allergic to acarbose are contraindicated. 2. Patients with diabetic coma and pre-coma, acidosis or ketosis are contraindicated. 3. Patients with chronic gastrointestinal dysfunction with obvious digestive and absorption disorders are contraindicated. 4. Patients with diseases that may be aggravated by intestinal flatulence (such as Roemheld syndrome, severe hernia, intestinal obstruction, intestinal surgery and intestinal ulcer) are contraindicated. 5. Patients with severe liver and kidney damage are contraindicated.

Special Population Medication

Precautions for children: It is not suitable for use before the age of 18. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: The safety for pregnant women is not yet clear. In animal experiments, the drug is secreted in breast milk, so it is not suitable for pregnant and lactating women. Precautions for the elderly: There is no need to change the dosage and frequency of medication for elderly patients over 65 years old.

Drug Interactions

1. If this product is used together with sulfonylureas, metformin or insulin, blood sugar may drop to the level of hypoglycemia, and the dosage of sulfonylureas, metformin or insulin needs to be reduced. 2. During the period of taking this product, avoid taking antacids, cholestyramine, intestinal adsorbents and digestive enzyme preparations at the same time to avoid affecting the efficacy of this product. 3. Taking neomycin at the same time can further reduce blood sugar after meals and aggravate the gastrointestinal reaction of this product.
