Lidocaine hydrochloride eye gel
Function and Efficacy
Pharmacological action Lidocaine hydrochloride ophthalmic gel is a local anesthetic that stabilizes the nerve cell membrane by inhibiting the ion flow i required for the generation and conduction of nerve impulses, thereby exerting a local anesthetic effect. The onset of anesthetic effect is usually 20 seconds to 1 minute and can last for 5 to 30 minutes. Toxicological studies Reproductive toxicity Lidocaine reproductive toxicity studies were conducted in rats and rabbits. No evidence of fetal damage was observed in rats given subcutaneous injections of lidocaine up to 50 mg/kg (more than 800 times the human dose in terms of mg/kg body weight). Carcinogenicity No carcinogenicity studies of lidocaine have been conducted in animals.

Special Population Medication
Precautions for children: The safety and effectiveness of this product in pediatric patients can be inferred from studies in older subjects and from studies in pediatric patients using different lidocaine formulations. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Reproductive toxicity studies of lidocaine have been conducted in rats and rabbits. In the rat model, subcutaneous lidocaine doses up to 50 mg/kg (more than 800 times the human dose in mg body weight) did not show fetal damage. However, there are no adequate and strictly controlled studies of lidocaine use in pregnant women. Because animal reproductive toxicity studies are not always predictive of human responses, this product should be used in pregnant women only when clearly needed. Lidocaine is secreted in human milk, but its clinical significance is unclear. Although systemic exposure is not expected after the use of lidocaine hydrochloride ophthalmic gel, this product should be used with caution in lactating women. Precautions for the elderly: No overall clinical differences in safety and effectiveness have been observed between elderly patients and other adult patients.
