After oral absorption into the body, it absorbs more X-rays than the surrounding soft tissue structures, forming density contrast and developing under X-ray irradiation. After oral administration, this product is mainly secreted by the liver and flows into the gallbladder with a concentration function. After concentration, the gallbladder morphology and function can be displayed under X-rays.

Indication

Positive contrast agent for X-ray diagnosis, used for gallbladder and bile duct angiography.

Usage and Dosage

Oral: The usual dose for adults is 6 tablets (3g) at a time. Maximum dose: 12 tablets (6g) at a time within 24 hours. The usual dose for children: For those weighing less than 13kg, take 150mg/kg orally once according to body weight; for those weighing 13-23kg, take 4 tablets (2g) orally once; for those weighing more than 23kg, take 6 tablets (3g) orally once. Take this product after eating a low-fat or fat-free meal 10-15 hours before the X-ray examination (usually the dinner on the day before the contrast examination), and then fast, but drink plenty of water. Before taking an X-ray, it is advisable to use a cleansing enema to eliminate the feces and contrast agent retained in the intestines. It is forbidden to use laxatives to clean the intestines.

Adverse Reactions

1. Oral administration of this product may cause nausea, vomiting, burning sensation in the stomach, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, burning pain or difficulty in urination, etc. Severe cases require symptomatic treatment. 2. A small number of patients experience itching, rash, urticaria, skin edema and other iodine allergic reactions, which need to be treated promptly. 3. Occasionally, acute renal failure occurs, mainly in severe liver disease, bile duct obstruction, dehydration, overdose or simultaneous use of other contrast agents. 4. There are reports of thrombocytopenia and purpura.

Precautions

1. Severe liver and kidney diseases are contraindicated. 2. Severe renal impairment (can cause acute renal failure) is contraindicated. 3. People who are allergic to iodine are contraindicated. 4. Gastrointestinal lesions, such as acute gastroenteritis and pyloric obstruction, can affect the absorption of contrast agents, and oral contrast is generally not used. 5. Acute attack of cholecystitis. 6. After gallbladder and bile duct surgery.

Drug Interactions

Cholestyramine (cholestyramine) is an alkaline anion exchange resin with a strong adsorption effect. Using cholestyramine while taking this product may hinder the absorption of this product from the intestine, causing the gallbladder to be faint or even not visible. It should be discontinued at least 12 hours before taking this product.
