DescriptionECHEMI Editorial ReferenceLinagliptin is a highly potent, selective DPP-4 inhibitor with IC50 of 1 nM.
Linagliptin is a xanthine that is 7H-xanthine bearing (4-methylquinazolin-2-yl)methyl, methyl, but-2-yn-1-yl and 3-aminopiperidin-1-yl substituents at positions 1, 3, 7 and 8 respectively (the R-enantiomer). Used for treatment of type II diabetes. It has a role as an EC 3.4.14.5 (dipeptidyl-peptidase IV) inhibitor and a hypoglycemic agent. It is a member of quinazolines and an aminopiperidine. It derives from a 7H-xanthine.|Linagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor developed by Boehringer Ingelheim for the treatment of type II diabetes. Linagliptin differs from other DPP-4 inhibitors in that it has a non-linear pharmacokinetic profile, is not primarily eliminated by the renal system, and obeys concentration dependant protein binding. Linagliptin was approved by the FDA on May 2, 2011.|Linagliptin is a Dipeptidyl Peptidase 4 Inhibitor. The mechanism of action of linagliptin is as a Dipeptidyl Peptidase 4 Inhibitor.|Linagliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor which is used in combination with diet and exercise in the therapy of type 2 diabetes, either alone or in combination with other oral hypoglycemic agents. Linagliptin has been linked to rare instances of clinically apparent liver injury.|Linagliptin is a potent, orally bioavailable dihydropurinedione-based inhibitor of dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP-4), with hypoglycemic activity. The inhibition of DPP-4 by linagliptin appears to be longer lasting than that by some other DPP-4 inhibitors tested.|A purine and quinazoline derivative that functions as an INCRETIN and DIPEPTIDYL-PEPTIDASE IV INHIBTOR.
