    Sec-butyl acetate, ie sec-butyl acetate. Also known as another butyl acetate. The molecular formula is: CH3COO CH(CH3)CH2CH3, molecular weight 116.2, is one of the four isomers of butyl acetate, butyl acetate is a colorless, flammable, fruity liquid. It can dissolve a variety of resins and organic matter. The performance of sec-butyl acetate is similar to that of other isomers in most cases. The biggest difference between it as a solvent is that its boiling point is lower than that of commonly used n-butyl ester and isobutyl ester, and its evaporation rate is faster.     Application areas of sec-butyl acetate products:

    (1) Used as paint solvent. Sec-butyl acetate is used industrially as a solvent for the manufacture of nitrocellulose paint, acrylic paint, polyurethane paint, etc.

    (2) Used as a solvent in the synthetic resin manufacturing process.

    (3) Used as a solvent in the manufacturing process of paint curing agents.

    (4) Used as a thinner, it is an ideal component with low cost and low toxicity in the preparation process of thinner such as Tianna water and banana water.

    (5) Used in ink. Sec-butyl acetate can be used as a volatile solvent in printing inks to replace n-propyl acetate.

    (6) Used as a solvent to replace n-butyl acetate component in the adhesive manufacturing process.

    (7) Used in the pharmaceutical industry. Sec-butyl acetate can be used for refining penicillin.

    (8) Used as a spice. Like other isomers, sec-butyl acetate has a fruity flavor and can be used as a fruit flavor.

    (9) Used as a reaction medium component. Sec-butyl acetate is a chiral molecule that can be used as a reaction medium, such as for the synthesis of trialkylamine oxides.

    (10) Used as a metal cleaning agent component. Sec-butyl acetate can be used as a metal cleaning agent component to remove coatings on metal surfaces.

    (11) Used as an extractant component. Sec-butyl acetate can be used as an extractant component, such as extracting and separating ethanol, propanol and acrylic acid.

    SEC-BUTYL ACETATE is an ester. Esters react with acids to liberate heat along with alcohols and acids. Strong oxidizing acids may cause a vigorous reaction that is sufficiently exothermic to ignite the reaction products. Heat is also generated by the interaction of esters with caustic solutions. Flammable hydrogen is generated by mixing esters with alkali metals and hydrides. Dissolves rubber and plastics (USCG, 1999).
