Description
Itaconic acid is a colorless crystal or white crystalline powder, storage stability, no moisture absorption, no caking even under high temperature conditions. Heating can be sublimation under vacuum conditions. Itaconic acid in water due to the double bond in the molecules of water effect, the formation of a small amount of hydroxy acids; it in the water dissociation constants respectively is: X l0-4 K1=1.50, K2=2.2 * l0-6. Itaconic acid has two similar structure, chemical properties similar to the isomeric body, namely citraconic acid and Kang acid; although itaconic acid, neutral and alkaline, room temperature condition is stable, but under alkaline conditions, three kinds of isomers can into each other.
Because the molecule contains two active carboxyl groups and a double bond, the chemical property is very active, can be added, polymerization reaction, the formation of polymer, so widely used in the field of chemical synthesis
