Ethisterone is an oral and effective progestogen, and its effect is similar to that of progesterone, which can transform the proliferative endometrium into the secretory phase and promote the development of mammary glands. The progesterone activity is equivalent to 1/5 of progesterone when injected, and 15 times stronger than the latter when taken orally; while the androgenic effect is very small, 1/10 of that of testosterone. This product is also easily absorbed from the oral mucosa, so sublingual administration is also effective. Clinically used for functional uterine bleeding, abnormal menstruation, amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, etc. It is also used to prevent threatened miscarriage and habitual miscarriage, but due to its weak role in maintaining pregnancy, the effect is not good.
