Diisononyl phthalate (DINP)DINP is formed by esterification of anhydride and isononyl alcohol. It is a universal plasticizer. Isononanol (INA), one of the main raw materials of DINP, is currently produced by only a few companies in the world, such as ExxonMobil of the United States, Evonik of Germany, Concord of Japan, and South Asia of Taiwan can produce a small amount of INA. At present, there is no company producing INA in China. The manufacturers producing DINP in China all the INA they need are imported.

DINP has a larger molecular weight and a longer carbon chain than DOP. Therefore, it has better aging performance, anti-migration performance, anti-extraction performance and higher high temperature resistance. Accordingly, the plasticizing effect of DINP was slightly worse than that of DOP under the same conditions. DINP is generally considered to be more environmentally friendly than DOP.
