Description

Riboflavin sodium phosphate is mainly used as food fortification agent, edible yellow pigment, in addition to medicine, as a water-soluble preparation of vitamin B2

Molecular formula: C17H24N4NaO11P

Molecular weight: 514.36

Appearance: Yellow to orange crystal or crystalline powder.

Taste: with bitter taste.

Solubility: hygroscopic, easily soluble in water, pH value of aqueous solution varies in different concentrations. Insoluble in ethanol, ether and chloroform.

Stability: More stable when dry, but light in solution prompts its rapid deterioration.

Riboflavin Sodium Phosphate (vitamin B2) is used for the treatment of orofacial infection, lip infection, tongue infection, conjunctivitis and scrotum infection.

Riboflavin is nore stable to heat in acid solution, particularly from pH 1.0 to 6.5 but upon irradiation forms lumichrome.
