      N-propanol  


    n-propanol (n-propanol), also known as 1-propanol, is an organic compound with simple structure CH3CH2CH2OH, molecular formula C3H8O and molecular weight 60.10. At normal temperature and pressure, n-propanol is a clear, colorless liquid with a strong musty taste similar to rubbing alcohol. It can dissolve in water, ethanol and ether. Propional is generally synthesized from ethylene by carbonyl group and then reduced. N-propanol can be used as solvent instead of ethanol with lower boiling point, and can also be used for chromatographic analysis.

    It has an ethanol-like odor. Combustible. Melting point -127 ℃; Boiling point 97.2℃; It can be miscible with water, alcohol, ether, hydrocarbon and other solvents. The chemical properties of n-propyl alcohol are similar to other low molecular weight aliphatic primary alcohols. It is miscible with water, ethanol and ether. Its vapor and air form explosive mixture, in the case of open fire, high heat caused combustion explosion. Can react strongly with oxidant.

    Generally used as a solvent. Can be used in coating solvent, printing ink, cosmetics, used in the production of medicine, pesticide intermediates n-propylamine, used in the production of feed additives, synthetic spices, etc. Propyl alcohol is widely used in pharmaceutical industry, food additives, plasticizers, spices and many other aspects.
