It slightly sour and bitter. Melting point is about 171℃. Dissolved in water, alcohol, glycerin, ether and essential oil, the aqueous solution is weakly acidic. The solubility of boric acid in water increases with the increase of temperature and can be volatilized with steam. The pH of Imol/L aqueous solution is 5.1. 19 is soluble in 18mL cold water, 4mL boiling water, 18mL cold alcohol, 6mL boiling alcohol or 4mL glycerin. Contact with the skin is greasy, exposed to the air without change. When heated to 100 ~ 105℃, one molecule of water is lost to form metaborate acid, which is transformed into pyroboric acid by heating at 104 ~ 160℃ for a long time, anhydrous substance is formed at higher temperature, and boric anhydride (B2 03) is formed at 300℃.
