Physical properties:

Cyclopentane is a colorless, transparent, and pungent liquid. It is insoluble in water and can be miscible with alcohols, ethers, ketones, and benzenes. Extremely flammable or volatile, with a risk of combustion and explosion when exposed to heat and open flames, and can form explosive mixtures with air. Contact with strong oxidizing agents can easily lead to chemical reactions or cause combustion or explosion.

Chemical properties:

Cyclopentane is stable in nature. can undergo substitution reaction with halogen without addition reaction under light or heating conditions. At room temperature, cyclopentane does not react with general oxidants, but when heated with strong oxidants or under the action of catalysts, it will undergo a ring rupture reaction with oxygen in the air, generating binary acids.Cyclopentane can directly undergo ring rupture under heating conditions, generating ethylene and propylene.

Usage: Mainly used in the polyurethane industry and the insulation material field of refrigerators and freezers. It is a good foaming agent and can replace CFCs that damage the ozone layer. Another main use is as a solvent for styrene butadiene rubber. In addition, cyclopentane can be used as a solvent for polymerization of polyisoprene rubber, cellulose ether solvent, and comparative samples for gas chromatography.

Storage and transportation conditions: 1. Store in a cool and ventilated warehouse, and the warehouse temperature should not exceed 30 ℃.

2. Keep away from sparks and heat sources. Prevent direct sunlight.

3. Transport in the hot summer season in the morning and evening, and take ventilation and cooling measures.

4. It should be stored separately from oxidants.
