Storage conditions	Store in cool, airtight and dark condition. Equilibrating in room temperature (20±3℃) before use, and shaken well to ensure uniformity. Once ampoules opened, it cannot be used as reference material after being melted again. Preventing contamination during use.

Physical and chemical properties	Tert-butyl hydroquinone, also known as tert-butyl hydroquinone, or TBHQ for short, has a molecular formula of C10H14O2 and a relative molecular mass of 166.22. Tert-butyl hydroquinone is a white powdery crystal with a special smell, melting point 126.5~128.5, boiling point 300 degrees Celsius. Soluble in ethanol and ether, soluble in oil grease, insoluble in water. It is stable to heat, and does not form colored substances when encountering iron and copper ions, but it can be pink under light or alkaline conditions. Tert-butyl hydroquinone has strong antioxidant capacity. For plant Oil, the order of antioxidant capacity is TBHQ>PG>BHT>BHA; for animal Oil, the order of antioxidant capacity is TBHQ>PG>BHA>BHT. TBHQ has no effect on stabilizing the color and smell of Oil grease. It has no "carry-in" ability in baked goods. It can improve this property when mixed with BHA, but it has this ability in Oil fried food. TBHQ has a synergistic effect on other antioxidants and chelating agents. It is still effective in oil lipids where other phenols do not work. The addition of citric acid can enhance its antioxidant activity. In plant oil, bulky oil and animal oil lipids, TBHQ is generally used in combination with citric acid. TBHQ has a certain antibacterial effect besides antioxidant effect. The minimum inhibitory concentration for bacteria and yeast is 0.005% ~ 0.01%, and for mold is 0.005% ~ 0.028%. NaCl has a synergistic effect on its antibacterial effect.
