Long chain LR3 insulin-like growth factor (LR3 IGF-1) belongs to the insulin gene family and is structurally similar to insulin precursor proteins. It has better growth promoting effects and can promote the division, migration, and differentiation of most cells.
Long chain LR3 insulin-like growth factor (Long-R3 IGF-I) is an analogue of human IGF-I containing 83 amino acids. Compared with intact human IGF-I, 13 amino acid residues were added at the N-terminus. It is particularly important that the third amino acid residue is replaced by the natural Glu with Arg (hence referred to as R3). Compared with natural human IGF-I, LR3 IGF-I significantly reduces its binding ability to human IGF-I binding proteins. The free concentration is higher, thus significantly improving biological activity. In most in vitro experiments, LR3 IGF-I exhibits good biological activity in the concentration range of 0.2-20 ng ml.
