Isopropyl alcohol（IPA)

Nature:
1. Isopropyl alcohol is a colorless and transparent liquid with a special alcohol odor.
2. It is soluble in water and a variety of organic solvents, such as ether, methanol and alcohols.
3. The melting point is -88℃, the boiling point is 83℃, and the density is about 0.79 g/cm³.
4. Isopropyl alcohol is more flammable and can form an explosive mixture with oxygen.

Purpose:
1. Isopropyl alcohol is widely used in the industrial field, especially as a solvent in the production of paints, inks, resins and dyes.
2. It can also be used as a raw material for synthetic flavors and drugs.
3. Isopropyl alcohol acts as a reducing agent or catalyst in the preparation of certain chemicals.

Preparation:
Isopropyl alcohol can be prepared in two ways:
1. Preparation from propylene deoxidation: propylene is catalyzed by hydrogenation at high temperatures to produce isopropyl alcohol.
2. Preparation from acetone reduction: acetone reacts with hydrogen in the presence of catalyst to produce isopropyl alcohol.
