Pharmacological effects
Rosuvastatin is a selective HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor. HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors are the rate-limiting enzymes that convert 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA to mevalonate, the precursor of cholesterol. Rosuvastatin's main site of action is the liver, the organ targeted for lowering cholesterol. Rosuvastatin increases the number of receptors on the surface of hepatic LDL cells, promotes the absorption and catabolism of LDL, and inhibits the hepatic synthesis of VLDL, thereby reducing the total number of VLDL and LDL particles. For patients with homozygous and heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, patients with non-familial hypercholesterolemia, and patients with mixed dyslipidemia, rosuvastatin can reduce total cholesterol, LDL-C, ApChemicalbookoB, and non-HDL-C levels. Rosuvastatin can also reduce TG and increase HDL-C levels. For patients with simple hypertriglyceridemia, rosuvastatin can reduce total cholesterol, LDL-C, VLDL-C, ApoB, non-HDL-C, and TG levels, and increase HDL-C levels. Preclinical data based on general safety pharmacology, repeated dose toxicity, potential genotoxicity and carcinogenicity studies do not indicate specific toxicity to humans. Rosuvastatin's reproductive toxicity was evident in pre- and postnatal studies in rats, reducing litter size, weight, and birth rate. These reproductive toxicities were observed when maternal rats were given toxic doses that resulted in systemic exposures several times above therapeutic exposure levels.

Adjuvant treatment for patients with primary hypercholesterolemia (type Ⅱa, including heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia) or mixed lipohemia (type Ⅱb) when diet or exercise therapy is not ideal. (Lowering blood lipids)

Safety
In terms of safety, the incidence rates of rosuvastatin calcium and drug-related adverse events are similar. The adverse events are mainly increased ALT, increased GGT and nausea.
Adverse reactions
1. Adverse reactions seen with this product are usually mild and transient. Common symptoms include headache, dizziness, constipation, nausea, abdominal pain, myalgia, weakness, etc.
2. A dose-related increase in creatine kinase (CK) levels was observed in patients taking this product; most cases were mild, asymptomatic and transient. If CK levels increase (>5×ULN), treatment should be discontinued.
3. Effects on the liver: Dose-related elevations in transaminases have been observed in a small number of patients taking this product; most cases are mild, asymptomatic and transient.
