What is Povidone Iodine?
Povidone iodine is a loose complex of elemental iodine combined with polymer support, and povidone acts as a carrier and solubilizer. It is yellow brown to brown red amorphous powder at room temperature. Slightly odorous, soluble in water or ethanol, acidic in aqueous solution, insoluble in ether, chloroform, acetone, ethane and carbon tetrachloride. Povidone iodine aqueous solution without iodine tincture disadvantages, light color, easy elution, small stimulation to the mucosa, no ethanol deiodination, no corrosion, and low toxicity.

Povidone iodine is a broad-spectrum and powerful disinfectant, which has a strong killing effect on viruses, bacteria, fungi and mold spores. This product has little irritation to skin, low toxicity and long lasting effect. It is safe and easy to use. It is basically non-irritating to tissues and is used for skin and mucosal disinfection, such as cleaning before surgery, disinfection of surgical sites and wounds.
Povidone iodine, usually in a 10% solution, is used as a disinfectant. Application of Povidone Iodine:
