What is citric acid monohydrate?
Citric acid monohydrate, molecular formula C6H8O7·H20, is colorless crystal or white crystalline powder, molecular weight: 210.14, density 1.54. Melting point 135-152℃. Flash point 173.9 ° C. Water soluble 1630 g/L (20℃).

Citric acid is colorless translucent crystal or white particles or white crystalline powder, odorless, extremely sour taste, slightly deliquable in humid air. It can exist in the form of non-hydrate or monohydrate: when citric acid crystallizes from hot water, non-hydrate is formed; When crystallized in cold water, monohydrate is formed. When heated to 78 ℃, the monohydrate will decompose into non-hydrate. Citric acid can also be dissolved in anhydrous ethanol at 15 degrees Celsius.

It is mainly used in food and beverage industry as sour agent, seasoning agent, preservative and fresh-keeping agent. It is also used as an antioxidant, plasticizer and detergent in the chemical industry, cosmetics industry and washing industry.

Application of citric acid monohydrate:

1. Used in the chemical industry for the production of acetyl triethyl citrate or tributyl citrate and citrate.

2. The food industry is mainly used as food additives, and it is used as sour agent, seasoning agent, preservative and fresh-keeping agent in food and beverage.

3. Used as antioxidants, plasticizers and detergents in washing industry.

7. Used as an analytical reagent, such as a matching masking agent, preparation of buffer solution; Used as an analytical reagent for chromatography.
