Barium carbonate 99% is an inorganic compound that appears as a white powder. It is toxic. It is slightly soluble in water containing carbon dioxide and insoluble in water. At approximately 1300°C, it decomposes into barium oxide and carbon dioxide.

1. Barium carbonate is used as an additive in ceramic coatings and optical glass. It finds applications in the manufacture of various electronic components like electronic ceramics, PTC thermistors, and capacitors.
2. It is employed in the analysis of iron in calcium, magnesium, manganese, and zinc. It is also used for testing and measuring halogens in organic compounds.
3. Barium carbonate is used in the production of barium salts, pigments, fireworks, rat poison, ceramics, and as a filler and water clarifier.
4. It serves as a vital chemical raw material for the production of electronic ceramics and water purification, as well as for manufacturing pigments, coatings, and other barium salts. It's crucial in the production of cathode ray tube glass shells, magnetic materials, and high-grade optical glass.
