      Product Application

    (1) Raw material for barium salt production: As a basic chemical raw material, it is used to produce other barium compounds, such as barium chloride, barium sulfate, and barium nitrate.

    (2) Ceramic and glass industry: In ceramic manufacturing, it can improve the gloss and hardness of the glaze; in glass production, it can increase the refractive index and luster of glass, and is also used to remove bubbles in glass.

    (3) Electronic and magnetic materials: Used in the manufacture of magnetic materials (such as ferrites), electronic ceramic components, and as a raw material for electronic devices such as picture tubes and capacitors.

    (4) Other uses: It can be used as a rodenticide (utilizing its toxicity), and also in pigments, rubber fillers, and as a decarbonizing agent and desulfurizing agent in the metallurgical industry.

      Product Function

    (1) Basic chemical function: As a core raw material for preparing other barium compounds (such as barium chloride and barium sulfate), it provides barium ions and supports the production of barium salt products.

    (2) Material modification function: It improves the gloss and hardness of glazes in ceramics, increases the refractive index, enhances luster and eliminates bubbles in glass, thereby optimizing the appearance and performance of materials.

    (3) Electronic and magnetic material construction function: It participates in the manufacture of magnetic materials (such as ferrites) and electronic ceramic components, and provides key components for electronic devices like picture tubes and capacitors to ensure their normal operation.

    (4) Industrial treatment and special function: It is used as a decarbonizing agent and desulfurizing agent in metallurgy to remove impurities from metals; it acts as a rodenticide by virtue of its toxicity, and can also be used as a filler for pigments and rubber to exert specific effects.

It is insoluble in water and soluble in most acids, with the exception of sulfuric acid.

    Reactive Group:

    Carbonate Salts

    Reactivity Profile:

Salts, basic, such as BARIUM CARBONATE, are generally soluble in water. The resulting solutions contain moderate concentrations of hydroxide ions and have pH's greater than 7.0. They react as bases to neutralize acids. These neutralizations generate heat, but less or far less than is generated by neutralization of the bases in reactivity group 10 (Bases) and the neutralization of amines. They usually do not react as either oxidizing agents or reducing agents but such behavior is not impossible.

    Autoignition Temperature:

    Not flammable (USCG, 1999)
