Product Description

Neopentyl glycol (IUPAC name: 2,2-dimethylpropane-1,3-diol) is an organic chemical compound. It is used in the synthesis of polyesters, paints, lubricants, and plasticizers. When used in the manufacture of polyesters, it enhances the stability of the product towards heat, light, and water. By esterification reaction with fatty or carboxylic acids, synthetic lubricating esters with reduced potential for oxidation or hydrolysis, compared to natural esters, can be produced.

Product Application

It is mainly used in the production of unsaturated resins, polyester powder coatings, oil-free alkyd resins, polyurethane foams, i.e. plasticisers for elastomers, synthetic plasticisers, surfactants, insulating materials, printing inks, polymerisation blocking agents, and synthetic aerospace lubricant oil additives. In addition, it is also used in the pharmaceutical industry. At the same time, Neopentyl Glycol is also an excellent solvent for the selective separation of aromatic hydrocarbons and cycloalkyl hydrocarbons.
