What is Chloroquine Diphosphate ?

Chloroquine diphosphate salt is used to study the role of endosomal acidification in cellular processes, such as the signaling of intracellular TLRs. It can be used as DNA intercalator & to dissociate antigen antibody complexes without denaturing red blood cell antigens. Chloroquine showed very high antiviral activity against NiV but very little activity against the other viruses at concentrations lower than 20 μM.

Chloroquine phosphate , which can inhibit the nucleic acid synthesis of plasmodium schizons, interfere with the growth and reproduction of malaria parasites, and have a highly effective killing effect on plasmodium erythrospermia.Chloroquine Phosphate is the phosphate salt of chloroquine, a compound with antimalarial and anti-inflammatory properties. Chloroquine Phosphate is the most widely used drug against malaria, except for those cases caused by chloroquine resistant Plasmodium falciparum. Although the mechanism of action is not fully understood, chloroquine is shown to inhibit the parasitic enzyme heme polymerase that converts the toxic heme into non-toxic hemazoin, thereby resulting in the accumulation of toxic heme within the parasite. Chloroquine may also interfere with the biosynthesis of nucleic acids.
