Vitamin E alpha tocopherol combines different compounds together, including tocopherol and tocotrienol. The most important thing for humans is d – α tocopherol. One of the most important functions of vitamin E alpha tocopherol is its antioxidant activity.

D-alpha tocopherol is a natural monomer of vitamin E extracted from soybean oil distillate, which is then diluted with edible oil to form various contents. Odorless, yellow to brownish red, transparent oily liquid. Usually, it is produced through the methylation and hydrogenation of mixed tocopherols. It can be used as an antioxidant and nutrient in food, cosmetics, and personal care products, as well as in feed and pet food.

Vitamin E alpha tocopherol is an essential dietary vitamin. It is a fat soluble, high antioxidant vitamin with the ability to neutralize free radicals. It reduces cell damage, thereby slowing down cell aging. The vitamin activity of alpha tocopherol is higher than that of other forms of vitamin E. The vitamin activity of D – α – tocopherol is 100, while the vitamin activity of β – tocopherol is 40, the vitamin activity of γ – tocopherol is 20, and the vitamin activity of δ – tocopherol is 1. The acetate form is an ester that is more stable than non esterified tocopherol.
