(R)-(-)-Glycerol acetone is a colorless liquid with a distinctive odor. It is miscible with water and most organic solvents.
Purpose
(+)-Glycerol acetone amide is an important intermediate for the synthesis of various compounds and is widely used in the food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries. (+)-Glycerol acetone amide can be used in the synthesis of antitussive drugs such as levodihydrochloride of ephedrine, antihypertensive drugs such as propranolol, and chiral crown ethers. In addition, (+)-Glycerol acetone amide can also be used as a cheap chiral directing compound in chiral synthesis.
(R)- and (S)-types are both chiral synthetic subunits, used for the preparation of tetraoxacycloheptadecane, di-glyceride and glycerophosphate esters.
