Product Detail

The chemical formula of sodium carbonate is Na2CO3, commonly known as soda ash, alkali ash, and washing alkali. It is usually a white powder and a strong electrolyte. The density is 2.532g/cm3, the melting point is 851 ° C, it is easily soluble in water, has salt like properties, and is a weak acid salt. It is slightly soluble in anhydrous ethanol and insoluble in propanol. After dissolving in water, it undergoes hydrolysis reaction, making the solution alkaline and corrosive. It can neutralize with acid to generate corresponding salts and release carbon dioxide. It can decompose at high temperatures, producing sodium oxide and carbon dioxide. Long term exposure to air can absorb moisture and carbon dioxide from the air, generate sodium bicarbonate, and form hard lumps. Highly hygroscopic, easily forms hard lumps, and does not decompose at high temperatures. Sodium carbonate reacts with water to form three hydrates: Na2CO3 · 10H2O, Na2CO3 · 7H2O, and Na2CO3 · H2O. Among them, Na2CO3 · 10H2O is the most stable and has a very low heat of dissolution in water. Commonly used in the photography industry, its product name is Carbon Oxygen. Na2CO3 · 10H2O, also known as crystal alkali, is prone to weathering in dry air. Previously, crystal alkali was commonly used for household washing and wool washing, hence it is also known as "washing alkali". In the past, Chinese folk customs used to use "block alkali" that could both wash clothes and make dough. It was made by mixing pure alkali with a large amount of water (in addition to some baking soda (NaHCO3), which had a water content of over 50%). Sodium carbonate undergoes an endothermic reaction when dissolved in water and is easily weathered in air. Na2CO3 · 7H2O is unstable and can only precipitate from saturated sodium carbonate solutions within the temperature range of 32.5-36 ℃. Sodium carbonate is a weak acid strong base salt (pure alkali is a salt, not a base, only the solution shows strong alkalinity). Na2CO3 produced by chemical methods is purer than natural alkali, hence it is called "pure alkali"
