    Basic Information:
    Tyramine, also known as 4-(2-aminoethyl)phenol, is a biogenic amine and an organic amine derivative. Its content is very low in fresh animal protein sources, but it is high in fermented foods. Tyramine has pharmacological effects, including antioxidant, anti-glycation, anti-inflammatory, and cardiovascular protection. These effects are thought to be due to its action as a biogenic amine, influencing neurotransmitter release and receptor activity.

    Tyramine can be used as an intermediate in organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry, primarily in chemical research and the modification and synthesis of drug molecules. For example, it is a key synthetic intermediate for bezafibrate, a drug used to treat primary and secondary hyperlipidemia, particularly in patients with diabetes.

    Chemical Properties:
    White needle-like crystals or crystalline powder, odorless, with a bitter taste. Melting point (decomposition): 334°C. Slightly soluble in water (0.04% at 25°C), insoluble in anhydrous ethanol, ether, and acetone, but soluble in dilute acids or dilute bases. Isoelectric point: 5.66.
