1. It can lower the minimum film-forming temperature of latex paint: Alkyd ester 12 has a prominent solvent effect, that is, it has a very strong coalescing ability. With a small amount used, it can effectively lower the minimum film-forming temperature (MFT) of latex paint, and expand the application range of latex paint with high glass transition temperature polymers in different environmental temperatures.
2. It can promote the film formation of latex paint: Compared with other film-forming aids, alkyd ester 12 has a low water solubility and is easily absorbed by latex ions, allowing direct contact and easier swelling of latex particles. Its evaporation rate is low, remaining in the latex paint coating before film formation, and the solvent effect is not affected by water evaporation, resulting in good film-forming continuity. Meanwhile, it has an appropriate volatility and completely evaporates shortly after film formation, without affecting the hardness and gloss expected in the latex paint formula design.
