    As an intermediate, acetophenone is a key raw material in the synthesis of various pesticides. Through chemical modification, it can be derived into precursors for pyrethroid insecticides (such as permethrin and cypermethrin), sulfonylurea herbicides, and triazole fungicides. Its benzene ring and carbonyl groups are easily modified, enhancing the target binding ability and environmental tolerance of the pesticide molecule.

    As a synergist, acetophenone enhances the effectiveness of pesticides in the following ways:

    Penetration aid: Its lipid solubility helps the pesticide penetrate the insect surface or plant cuticle, improving systemic absorption.

    Synergistic effect: When used in combination with pyrethroid insecticides, it can inhibit insect detoxification enzymes (such as cytochrome P450), delaying the development of insect resistance. For example, allethrin is often combined with mosquito coils and electric mosquito repellent liquids to enhance mosquito repellency.
