Uses

Diazabicyclo (DBU) is mainly used as an excellent organic base deacidifying agent in pharmaceutical synthesis. It can replace organic bases such as triethylamine, N,N-dimethylaniline, pyridine, and quinoline, and is widely applied in organic synthesis and semi-synthetic antibiotics, achieving satisfactory results in dehydrohalogenation reactions. It is extensively used in the production of semi-synthetic cephalosporin antibiotics; for example, ammonia and dichloroethane react to form piperazine in the presence of DBU. Additionally, it can serve as an epoxy resin hardener and rust inhibitor, and can be formulated into high-grade corrosion inhibitors. It also acts as a catalyst in other chemical reactions. DBU is employed in the manufacture of semi-synthetic cephalosporin antibiotics, and is also used to prepare deacidifying agents, rust inhibitors, and high-grade corrosion inhibitors, among other applications.
