Description	Peramivir, also known as BCX1812 and RWJ 270201, is an antiviral drug for the treatment of influenza. In preclinical studies, peramivir demonstrated potent antiviral activity against various influenza A and B strains, including oseltamivir-resistant variants. In vitro, peramivir exhibited low nanomolar IC₅₀ values (typically <1 nM) for neuraminidase inhibition, indicating high binding affinity. In mouse models of influenza infection, a single intraperitoneal dose of peramivir significantly reduced viral titers in the lungs and improved survival rates compared to controls. In ferret models, peramivir reduced fever duration and viral shedding. Its prolonged half-life and strong binding to neuraminidase allowed for effective once-daily dosing.
