Introduction to Poly Aluminium Chloride (PAC) Product

Detailed Description of 30% Poly Aluminum Chloride (PAC) Product

    I. Product Overview

30% Poly Aluminum Chloride (Polyaluminum Chloride, referred to as PAC) has a core active ingredient of aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃) with a content of ≥30.0%. It is a high-efficiency and high-quality inorganic polymer flocculant with a chemical general formula of (Alₙ(OH)ₘCl₍₃ₙ₋ₘ₎), where 0 < m < 3n. The product appears in two forms: solid and liquid. The solid form is a white to light yellow uniform powder/granule with high purity and no impurities; the liquid form is a light yellow to light brown transparent liquid with good fluidity and no obvious precipitation. With stronger bridging and adsorption capacity and faster flocculation and sedimentation speed, this product is suitable for the treatment of medium and high concentration polluted water. It is widely used in scenarios such as advanced treatment of municipal sewage, purification of industrial high-concentration wastewater, and pre-treatment of drinking water. It can also be used for high-end auxiliary treatment in industries such as papermaking, printing and dyeing, and mining. The product is produced in strict accordance with the industrial grade first-class product standard of GB/T 22627-2014 "Water Treatment Agent - Poly Aluminum Chloride" and the enterprise internal control standard (Q/ZJLY 03-2021), ensuring stable product quality, safe and efficient use, and is the preferred agent in the medium and high-end water treatment field.

II. Core Characteristics of the Product

    (1) Physicochemical Characteristics

    • Appearance and Form: Solid products are white to light yellow uniform powders or granules with uniform particle size (20-50 microns), no agglomeration, no impurities, and excellent fluidity; liquid products are light yellow to light brown transparent or semi-transparent liquids with no obvious precipitation or suspended matter, uniform color, easy to dissolve and add, and the purity advantage is intuitively distinguishable.

    • Solubility: It is extremely soluble in water, and the dissolution rate is much faster than that of products with 28% content. When the solid product is formulated into a 3-8% aqueous solution, it can be completely dissolved after stirring for 20-25 minutes, with uniform dispersion and no residue. After dissolution, a high-density flocculation system is formed, which can quickly adsorb impurities in water and greatly improve water purification efficiency.

    • Stability: It has stable chemical properties, is not easy to decompose, and has strong anti-interference ability. The storage period of solid products can reach 2 years in a ventilated and dry environment. After getting damp, they can be used normally after drying treatment without affecting performance; liquid products can be stably stored for 6 months when sealed. They can maintain activity when stored at a temperature of 0-35℃, and their low-temperature resistance is better than that of ordinary PAC. The activity is stable above 0℃, which can meet the storage needs under various climatic conditions.

    • Corrosiveness: It is weakly acidic (pH value of 10g/L aqueous solution is 3.0-4.5), and its corrosiveness to equipment is slightly lower than that of products with 28% content. It is recommended to use corrosion-resistant equipment such as PVC and PP materials during dosing. Operators should wear protective equipment such as gloves, masks, and goggles to avoid direct contact with skin and mucous membranes, making the operation safe and convenient.
    (2) Core Performance Advantages

    • Efficient Purification: As a preferred mid-to-high-end PAC product, it has a stable alumina content of ≥30.0%, extremely strong bridging and adsorption capacity. The floc formation time is only 6-10 minutes, which is 20% faster than 28% content PAC and 50% faster than traditional aluminum sulfate. The flocs are dense with fast sedimentation speed, and the sludge volume can be reduced by more than 30%, which significantly reduces the difficulty and cost of sludge treatment and improves water treatment efficiency.

    • Wider Adaptability: It has an extremely wide range of applicable water qualities and can efficiently treat various complex water qualities such as low-turbidity raw water, high-concentration organic wastewater, high-heavy-metal wastewater, and high-color wastewater. The applicable pH range is 4-10, without the need for frequent adjustment of water pH. It can adapt to water quality fluctuations in different regions and seasons, is resistant to low temperatures and impacts, and solves the problem of poor treatment effects of traditional flocculants in complex water qualities.

    • Excellent Purification Effect: It has outstanding removal capabilities for suspended solids (SS), chromaticity, COD, BOD, and heavy metal ions (lead, nickel, chromium, cadmium, etc.) in water. The SS removal rate can reach more than 98%, the heavy metal removal rate in electroplating wastewater is >95%, the decolorization rate of printing and dyeing wastewater exceeds 90%, and the COD of municipal sewage after advanced treatment can be reduced to below 50mg/L. The treated water quality can easily meet the relevant national discharge standards, and water recycling can be realized in some scenarios.
    • Shop PAC, 1327-41-9, Poly Aluminium Chloride, golden yellow with 30% content-Detailed Image 2
    • Energy Saving and Environmental Protection: The product has high purity, no toxic or harmful impurities, and the heavy metal content is much lower than the national standard. The residual aluminum ion concentration in water after use meets the limit of GB 5749-2022 "Standards for Drinking Water Quality", and will not cause harm to human health and the ecological environment. The sludge generated after treatment can be further dehydrated and recycled, with no hidden danger of secondary pollution, which meets the requirements of green and environmental protection development.

    • Outstanding Cost Performance: Although the unit price is higher than that of 28% content PAC, due to its high flocculation efficiency and low dosage (15-25% less dosage than 28% content), the comprehensive cost per ton of water treatment is more advantageous. It is especially suitable for the treatment of medium and high-concentration polluted water, which can help enterprises reduce chemical consumption and lower the overall environmental treatment cost.

    V. Usage Methods and Precautions

    (I) Usage Methods

    1. Solution Preparation: Solid products need to be prepared into a 3-8% aqueous solution before adding, stir for 20-25 minutes until completely dissolved with no obvious residues; liquid products can be directly diluted 3-6 times before adding, stir evenly after dilution to ensure uniform dispersion of the agent, avoiding local high concentration which may affect the flocculation effect. The prepared solution is recommended to be used up within 24 hours.

    2. Recommended Dosage: Adjust the dosage according to the degree of water pollution and treatment goals. It is recommended to conduct a small-scale test first to determine the optimal dosage. The conventional dosages are as follows (can be fine-tuned according to actual water quality).

    3. Low-turbidity raw water (such as drinking water pretreatment): 5-20mg/L, with turbidity after treatment < 0.5NTU.

    4. High-concentration organic wastewater (such as printing and dyeing, chemical wastewater): 30-120mg/L, with COD removal rate of 70-90%.

    5. Phosphorus-containing wastewater (such as advanced treatment of municipal sewage): 50-180mg/L, with TP after treatment < 0.3mg/L.

    6. Sludge dewatering: Add 0.3-0.8% of the dry weight of the sludge, use in conjunction with PAM to improve dewatering effect and reduce sludge moisture content.

    7. Adding method: Adopt continuous adding method, put the prepared agent into the treated water body through a metering pump. The adding point should be selected at a position where the water body is evenly stirred (such as a reaction tank, stirring tank). First, perform rapid mixing (250rpm, 1 minute), then slow stirring (60rpm, 8-10 minutes) to ensure full contact between the agent and the water body. Drain the water after sedimentation for 25-30 minutes to improve the flocculation and sedimentation effect.

    8. Precautions: After adding, observe the flocculation effect of the water body. If the flocs are small and settle slowly, the dosage can be appropriately increased or used in combination with PAM; if flocs float, reduce the dosage and adjust the stirring speed and reaction time; when used in combination with other agents, they should be added at intervals of 5-10 minutes to avoid chemical reactions affecting the effect.
