    2. Mechanism of Action

Cortagen modulates neural function and regeneration via epigenetic and cellular pathways:

    1. Epigenetic Regulation: Enters cell nuclei, binds to DNA, and adjusts the transcription of genes related to neuronal renewal, chromatin stability, and DNA repair, restoring a youthful gene expression profile in aging neural cells.
    2. Neuroprotection: Reduces oxidative stress, balances pro - inflammatory and anti - inflammatory pathways in the central nervous system, and shields neurons from ischemic, traumatic, or age - related damage.
    3. Neuroregeneration: Promotes neuronal repair, enhances synaptic plasticity, and accelerates the recovery of nerve function after injury or transection.
    4. Immune - Neuro Modulation: Stimulates interleukin - 2 expression, regulates immune function, and reduces autoimmune reactions, maintaining the neuro - immune balance.

    3. Biological Functions & Research Applications

    3.1 Core Biological Effects

    • Neuroregeneration: Accelerates neuronal repair and recovery of neural function post - injury, including spinal cord and brain ischemic damage.
    • Cognitive Enhancement: Improves memory, concentration, and information processing by boosting synaptic plasticity.
    • Neuroprotection: Guards against oxidative stress, inflammation, and age - related neurodegeneration, potentially delaying the progression of neurodegenerative diseases.
    • Anti - Aging: Restores the youthful state of neural cell DNA, reduces cellular senescence, and supports nervous system longevity.
    • Stress Adaptation: Enhances the nervous system's resilience to emotional and environmental stress, stabilizing mood.

    3.2 Research Applications

    Application Field Usage Scenarios
Neuroscience Research Models of ischemic stroke, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury; studies on neuroregeneration mechanisms
Gerontology Research on age - related cognitive decline and brain aging; development of anti - aging strategies targeting neural cells
Neurodegenerative Disease Studies Investigations into Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and other neurodegenerative diseases; exploration of neuroprotective interventions
Cognitive Science Studies on synaptic plasticity, memory formation, and cognitive enhancement mechanisms
Immun - Neuro Research Research on neuro - immune interaction and the treatment of neuroimmune disorders

    4. Production & Quality Control

    4.1 Manufacturing Process

    1. Solid - Phase Peptide Synthesis (SPPS): Fmoc chemistry assembles the Ala - Glu - Asp - Pro sequence, purified by reversed - phase high - performance liquid chromatography (RP - HPLC) to reach ≥99% purity.
    2. Lyophilization: Freeze - drying forms stable powder, extending shelf - life and facilitating cold - chain storage and transportation.

    4.2 Quality Testing Standards

    Test Item Specification Detection Method
Purity ≥99% RP - HPLC (C18 column, gradient elution)
    Single Impurity ≤0.5% HPLC
Water Content ≤0.5% Karl Fischer titration
Endotoxin ≤0.1 EU/mg Limulus Amebocyte Lysate (LAL) test
Heavy Metals ≤10 ppm ICP - MS
Identity Conforms to reference standard Mass spectrometry (MS), amino acid analysis

    5. Administration, Safety & Handling

    5.1 Administration Routes & Dosage

    • Subcutaneous Injection: Common in animal research; 100 - 500 mcg/kg/day for 10 - 30 days to support neuroregeneration and neuroprotection.
    • Intraperitoneal Injection: Used in acute neuroinjury models; 200 - 600 mcg/kg/day for 7 - 14 days to reduce ischemic damage.
    • Oral Administration: Research - grade capsules; 10 - 20mg/day for 2 - 4 weeks for cognitive and anti - aging studies.

    5.2 Safety Profile

    • Low Toxicity: Transient mild injection - site reactions or mild gastrointestinal discomfort (rare, dose - dependent, and reversible).
    • Non - Immunogenic: No allergic reactions reported; compatible with standard neuroscience research protocols.
    • Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to Cortagen; pregnancy/lactation (limited data); caution in severe renal/hepatic dysfunction.

    5.3 Handling Recommendations

    • Storage: Store at - 20°C in a dry, dark environment; protect from light and moisture.
    • Transport: Transport under cold - chain conditions (2 - 8°C) to ensure stability.
    • Research - Only Use: High - purity powder is for R&D only; not for human clinical use without regulatory approval.
    • Disposal: Dispose of in accordance with local chemical waste regulations to prevent environmental pollution.

    6. Advantages of High - Purity Cortagen Powder

    1. Epigenetic Targeting: High purity ensures precise modulation of neural gene expression, minimizing off - target effects and ensuring reliable experimental results.
    2. Neuroregenerative Potential: Unique ability to promote neuronal repair, making it ideal for neuroinjury and neurodegeneration research.

    ECHEMI Editorial Reference
Thymalfasin is an immunomodulating agent able to enhance the Thl immune response. Sequence: N-acetyl-Ser-Asp-Ala-Ala-Val-Asp-Thr-Ser-Ser-Glu-Ile-Thr-Thr-Lys-Asp-Leu-Lys-Glu-Lys-Lys-Glu-Val-Val-Glu-Glu-Ala-Glu-Asn.
Thymalfasin is a polypeptide.|Thymalfasin is a synthetic analogue of thymosin-alpha-1, a 28-amino acid protein derived from the precursor protein prothymosin-alpha. Exhibiting a variety of immunoregulating properties, thymosin-alpha-1 induces differentiation of murine T-cell precursors and human thymocytes and the terminal differentiation of functionally immature cord blood lymphocytes and induces production of IL-2, high affinity IL-2 receptors, and B-cell growth factors by peripheral blood mononuclear cells. T-helper and cytotoxic/suppressor T-cell populations are targets of thymosin activity. Thymosin-alpha-1 has been shown to increase the efficiency of antigen presentation by macrophages and to be an endogenous modulator of alpha-thrombin activity. (NCI04)|A thymus hormone polypeptide found in thymosin fraction 5 (a crude thymus gland extract) but now produced by synthesis. It is used alone or with interferon as an immunomodulator for the treatment of CHRONIC HEPATITIS B and HEPATITIS C. Thymalfasin is also used for the treatment of chemotherapy-induced immunosuppression, and to enhance the efficacy of influenza and hepatitis B vaccines in immunocompromised patients.
