Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide with the molecular formula C₃₃H₅₇N₁₁O₉ and a molecular weight of approximately 751.87 Da. Developed as an analogue of the endogenous immunomodulatory tetrapeptide tuftsin, it typically appears as a white powder. Approved in 2008 for treating generalized anxiety disorder, this compound acts by modulating the GABAergic system, monoamine neurotransmitter systems, and immune cytokines.

Selank Peptide is a biological polypeptide primarily used in laboratory research and development processes and chemical production processes.

(1) Treatment of Anxiety Disorders: In clinical studies, Selank has been used to treat generalized anxiety disorder and neurasthenia. Its anxiolytic efficacy is comparable to that of the classic benzodiazepine drug midazolam, with rapid onset of action (some patients experience significant symptom improvement within 1-3 days of administration).

(2) Cognitive Function Research: In animal studies, Selank has been used to improve age-related memory impairment and alcohol-induced memory deficits. Research indicates it increases brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) levels in the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex.
