1. Description

Ursolic acid is a naturally occurring pentacyclic triterpenoic acid belonging to the ursane structural class. It is widely distributed in various plants, including apple peel, rosemary, privet leaves, hawthorn, and cranberries. It appears as a white to off-white crystalline powder or needle-like crystals, is soluble in dimethyl sulfoxide, ethanol, and methanol, and is practically insoluble in water. Its melting point is 283–292°C (decomposition). It should be stored in a sealed container, protected from light, and kept in a cool, dry place.
