The compound also appears to stimulate neurotrophic factors such as brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) . Rodent studies have further demonstrated elevated hippocampal dopamine levels, improved spatial learning performance, and restoration of tyrosine hydroxylase-expressing neurons in animal models of Parkinsonism .
