4-Bromobiphenyl (CAS: 92-66-0) is an organic compound with the chemical formula C₁₂H₉Br and a molecular weight of 233. It is also known as para-bromobiphenyl or 4-bromo-1,1'-biphenyl. At room temperature, it appears as a white to pale yellow crystalline powder with an aromatic odor. Its melting point is approximately 82–86°C (some sources report 89–92°C), the boiling point is 310°C, and the flash point is about 143°C. It is insoluble in water but readily soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, ether, and benzene.

This compound is primarily used as a pharmaceutical intermediate and raw material for organic synthesis. It serves as a crucial precursor for the synthesis of rodenticides such as bromomethane and bromadiolon, and is also employed in the production of liquid crystal materials.
